#indiana Channel History

The Undernet channel #Indiana started about 5 years ago on AOL. Yes that’s right, we started on the dreaded AOL. Mylestud and Handytak started the Indiana channel. Brenda, Offilia, Sweetlamb and a few others were the first regulars in the AOL Indiana room. Soon after I StoryBear joined, in September 1994, the room was just getting started. More and more people started stopping by and staying. As time went on, the room was full at 24 people and it was hard to get into the channel at night. Mylestud drifted away from the channel, but we kept the channel up and running. We wanted to meet the people we chatted with so we set up a party in April 1995. The party was a hit, and some people clicked so well that they even started partying every weekend or so.

Well now we had a group of regulars like Bren, Sweet, Off, Hammy, Bear, Thumper, Tiggie, and many more most would not remember. On AOL, there were several meetings that turned into love and marriage. Here are a few couples that met on AOL and married: Swag and Cinnamon, Notdrunk and Phattire, Indybabe and Jim (these two have been married for almost 3 years). Rogman and _ Kristina will marry this year and met in the AOL days. As you can see, the channel has brought people together for love, happiness, and friendship. We then all discovered the Undernet and many of us moved from AOL to the Undernet. We moved to the Undernet for 2 main reasons. First off, there was not at a set rate for the service on AOL, and some people had bills over $100. Another problem on AOL was that we had no control over the room. This meant that people could come in and start trouble with people in the channel and we would have to call a guide and hope they would do something about it. The Undernet is much different, because the OP’s can kick/ban people if they are causing problems. The channel was registered with cservice, and now after several other managers, the #Indiana channel is registered to StoryBear with HollyIn as an assistant mgr.
